On the bench

Where the larger set doubles up on the big motors, this one spreads across the range. Two M motors handle small functions like a door or a winch, two L motors cover general drive, the XL takes the heavy job, and the servo gives you a steering or aiming axis. For a model with several independent functions that is a better distribution than four large motors and nothing small.

How it behaves in a build

The small remote is the right pairing here, since a model with mixed functions is usually a model you are driving by hand rather than running on a layout. Supporting parts include clutch gears, gears with an axle hole, two length axles and universal joints, which is enough to get drive out of the motor and into a mechanism without raiding another set. Builders working to the EV3 part standard will find the mounting points familiar.

Fit and compatibility

Compatible with technic brick systems, with the motors sized for the standard mounting holes used across the major ranges.

More ASTEM technic parts: gears, axles and compatible building block sets

The rest of the ASTEM collection is a click away, drawer by drawer. A technic gear is only useful if it fits, so every axle, pin and building set here is held to the LEGO® compatible dimensions the system has used for decades. Builders tell us what the experience of the first build was like, and that customer feedback decides what changes in the next run.
