Track and scenery: the ground the railway runs on (12 packs)

Nickel silver rail, curves, turnouts and ground cover for the layout the trains run on.

What sits in this drawer

Track is the part of a layout that people buy last and regret first. Rail that corrodes gives you intermittent power and an engine that stutters; a radius chosen because it fitted the table gives you a long diesel that will not take the corner. Both problems are cheaper to avoid than to fix.

Our rail is nickel silver, which stays conductive as it ages instead of growing an insulating skin, and it is set in moulded sleepers rather than wood so a damp basement does not warp the roadbed. Curves run from a tight R2 at 358 mm up to a sweeping R10 at 888 mm, with straights, a feed curve carrying a power clip that needs no soldering, and left and right turnouts. The static grass tufts at the end of the shelf are for the bit afterwards, when bare board starts to annoy you.

Questions about this drawer

Which curve radius should I choose?

R2 for a small oval and short switchers, R3 or R4 for general running, R10 where you want a long locomotive to look right.

Do I need to solder anything?

No. Sections snap together with rail joiners, and the feed curve brings power in through a clip.

Will this track work with other HO systems?

It works with most HO DC track and stock. Check the profile height where you join an existing section.

One drawer over

This is one drawer of a longer bench; the ASTEM collection covers the rest of the job. The technic gear train, the axles that carry it and the beams around it come out of one compatible building set standard, the same one LEGO® technic has always used. Builders tell us what the experience of the first build was like, and that customer feedback decides what changes in the next run.
