On the bench

Starting a layout is mostly a problem of pairing. You buy a locomotive and then discover nothing on the shelf matches it in era, livery or coupler height. This one removes that step by shipping with a carriage designed alongside it, so the first train you run is already coherent and you can add to it deliberately rather than by accident.

How it behaves in a build

The locomotive is built to the same standard as the rest of the shelf: metal components for weight and rolling stability, detailed exterior with painted lettering, and couplers fitted at both ends. For a first purchase, or for a display piece where one locomotive and one car is all the shelf will hold, the pairing is more useful than a slightly better locomotive on its own.

Fit and compatibility

HO 1:87 scale on standard gauge, with couplers compatible with the other cars in this range.

More ASTEM technic parts: gears, axles and compatible building block sets

The rest of the ASTEM collection is a click away, drawer by drawer. The technic gear train, the axles that carry it and the beams around it come out of one compatible building set standard, the same one LEGO® technic has always used. We read every customer message, and the experience builders describe is what we change the tooling for.
