Sixteen pieces is a deliberate small start: enough track to lay a running line and one or two switched spurs, not so much that it needs a permanent board. For a tabletop or a shelf, this is a layout you can set up, operate and put away, which fits more lives than a basement empire does.

How it behaves in a build

The turnouts are the valuable content and they are built to the same standard as the larger sets — nickel silver frogs and rails for reliable current, simple mounting, and realistic switch stands and tie plates. Everything joins to our individual curves and straights, so growing the layout later is a matter of adding sections rather than starting again.
